This is The Intergalactic Hanseatic League calling
This video series has been one of the most international productions I have worked on during the pandemic.
The director, brilliant Gavin Toomey in Oslo.
The editor, yes me, in Helsinki.
Actors, all fab, filmed separately.
The rest of the team scattered around the East of England, with the actual interactive arts project side of the programme taking place in King’s Lynn later this year.
I first crossed paths with Collusion six years ago when they launched the Maker Challenge where creative and technical professionals came together to develop solutions in order to improve existing infrastructures. My job was obviously on the editing side of the resulting video content.
Last year we made the Art // Tech // Play series (above). It is a superbly insightful series where six artists talk about a piece of software or an emerging technology that they are passionate about. As we were in the middle of lockdown at the time, the artists filmed and edited the videos themselves. To retain a fraction of consistency, I helped with establishing the overall feel across the series and directed the artists' content and stories into the short format, with each interpreting the making of the video in their own individual way. The series is an absolute must-see for artists and creatives looking to expand their practice, deepen their artistic expression or find emerging markets - or just to get a glimpse at some really cool art!
And now here we are, working with time-travellers. Watch the first video now. Go go go!
In case it isn’t obvious, I have a massive crush on Collusion. Their tireless support in the arts community is priceless; their endless curiosity and innovative work blow me away. Needless to say, it’s been a huge privilege to work with them on these projects over the years. Very exciting to see what the future holds.
